Etna Bianco

The Monte Leone Winery has 5 hectares of vineyards, which are situated on two different sides of the volcano Mount Etna. With the grapes cultivated on the north face the red wines are produced. While on the east side, the altitude and climate are better suited for the white wines.

The white wine Bianco Etna DOC consists of 100 % Carricante which is an autochthonous grape variety of southern Italy and cultivated in Sicily. It is the basis of the DOC wine Etna bianco and its name comes from the Italian verb “caricare” which means load, strain, referring to the high - yields of the grape variety.
