Lagrein Rieder

Lagrein is one of the indigenous grape varieties of South Tyrol. The vine prefers warm, sunny places as on the valley floor. It grows best on alluvial gravel soils. The best areas for Lagrein can be found near Bolzano and Egna, where the grapes for our Lagrein Rieder come from.

Name: One of our vineyards planted with Lagrein in Bolzano is called “Rieder”.

Vineyard training system: Guyot

Vineyard soil: alluvial gravel soils

Vinification: manual harvest, fermentation in traditional concrete tanks, maceration of 8-12 days, maturation on the yeast for 6 months

Food Pairings: strong starters, roasted meat, game, aged cheese

Characteristics: intense ruby red colour, notes of dark berries and violet, smooth tannins, full-bodied structure, well-balanced acidity
