Mazon is known as the Grand Cru of Italian Pinot Nero and located above Egna/Neumarkt at 300-450 metres above sea level. The vineyard is exposed to North West and the vines benefit from the long evening sun as well as of cool fall winds. The deeper position and the special clones planted in this vineyard bring out a very complex and structured Pinot Nero.
The label shows the ruins of Kaldiff Castle near the vineyards. Legend tells that several treasures are buried there and guarded by two huge dogs with fiery eyes. This castle was built around 1200 and inhabited by the Lords of Enn until the castle decayed after a great fire.

Vineyard training system: Guyot
Vineyard soil: loamy soil with limestone and porphyry
Vinification: manual harvest, maceration in stainless steel for 10-14 days, maturation in barrique barrels for 12 months, maturation in bottle for at least 3 months
Food Pairings: grilled and roasted red meat, pasta dishes
Characteristics: ruby red colour, intense notes of red berries, powerful structure, intense body, complex, long-lasting finish
